If you live in Alberta, Canada, you probably knew that Calgary’s Stampede season just went by. Lots of cowboys and tourists! To suit this theme, my latest collaboration for Vehicle Magazine included a slightly western theme to it. I teamed up with writer Cameron Jenkins to create some spot illustrations for the story he wrote, La Guitarra, for Vehicle Magazine issue number 2!

So, I hope you all enjoy those and check out the new issue of Vehicle Magazine!  If you are in the Calgary area, you can find them in Art Central.  You might even see me and my buddy Scott there soon too… but more on that in my next post!

For now I am trying to get back into the swing of things.  Karyl, Jodie and I are all fixing up the forums, with valuable feedback from lots of people, I’m getting out cycling and working out more, bought a light table off of Kijiji so I could get more artwork done, am slowly converting to vegetarianism, checking out some new dojos in the area I just moved to, and my big news of the moment is that I found a really rad job!  Right now I am working at lulu lemon athletica in Market Mall!  I think its actually pretty sweet.  Free yoga, cool people, great vision and values, they’ll sponsor two fitness related classes of your choice a week, great discount, everyone seems happy… so far its all around pretty awesome!  This brought my morale up considerably, too.  With the recession and so many people losing jobs I feel really lucky to have even found a job, let alone one that might be fun!  So, if you’re in the Calgary Market Mall area, stop in and say hello!  I’ll be training for the first few days though, mind you!

  1. Nice to read an updates, congrats on finding employment :). I’m barely on the computer long enough to read updates of my friends, nevermind update my own blogs haha.

  2. Hey, congrats on the employment! I’ve really enjoyed the little bit of yoga I’ve done before. I bet you’ll have a great time working there. :) Love those illustrations, too. They all have such a nice horizontal flow to them.

  3. Thanks ladies! I know what you mean, Roz, there’s so much going on all the time that its hard to stay updated with everyone! Hope you’re doing alright though!
Thanks again Chels! If you know of any other cool fitness programs or martial arts, please let me know. I’m interested in trying some new stuff right now.

  4. As for martial arts, I REALLY enjoyed kung fu when I did it in Colorado. It’s incredibly difficult and kicks your ass, but it’s very rewarding when you actually get a form right, or learn new forms. :) I’m sure the quality of the programs vary a lot between schools, though.

  5. Hey Spenny,

I like the new panels! I really like the guitar and goat - the lines have a nice flow to them. One thing that I thought could be different are the eyes in the last panel. I think there would be a bit of a shadow on the inside of the left eye.

  6. Thanks dude! I’m glad you’re still alive! We never did see you at the grad party, and no one has seen you since! haha. You’re right about that left eye though, thanks!
