Testing out some new inking and digital touch up techniques on a horribly depressing story of a young girl whom was abandoned by her father at a train station in Australia. As the story goes, he murdered her mother in New Zealand, then fled with the daughter to Australia where he abandoned her at a train station, and then he fled himself to the USA where he hid out until later being caught. When the authorities in Australia found the little girl they nicknamed her Pumpkin because it was the brand of clothing she was wearing.

In other and less depressing news, I just submitted some work for the latest CMYK call for entries.  Wish me luck!  If you’re interested in submitting some work yourself, the details can be found here and the deadline is October 20th: CMYK Call for Aspiring Creatives

  1. Oh, wow. I don’t know a lot about art (well, try ‘nothing’ in place of ‘a lot’) but that’s a really nice piece. I’m especially drawn to the girl’s eyes, they look so deep and dark with just vague reflections in them.

  2. Thanks! I’m glad someone finally commented on this. I was pretty nervous with this piece, and I’m not so sure if it was a success so I’m glad someone likes it! :)

  3. Wow… the details are just amazing. I can definitely see the story and also the screaming sadness foretold from the eyes, the features of the face, and just almost all the hurt that is jumping out from the picture. Is this based off of true events? Because reading that did make me feel a bit sad if it were true.

  4. Thanks! Yeah, sadly its based off of true events.
Here’s just one link on the internet to her story. There’s hundreds more if you search for “pumpkin” along with any words like “abandoned”.
